Yes! This is the contradiction. How can we control the uncontrollable? We can only resolve this by taking change to be clearly understood and predictable, or by changing our view of management to be less ‘controlling’. The former is wrong, the latter is correct and desirable as an ideal, but it clashes with popular common sense views of management.
