Alpha divests one of its businesses to Beta. Which statement can we infer?

The presence of a better parent is a necessary condition for a sell-off. If Beta is a better parent for that business than Alpha is (and can pay more for that business than what it is worth to Alpha), then Alpha can sell-off the business to Beta. If Beta is not a better parent, then Beta is unlikely to buy the business from Alpha. Given that Alpha sold-off the business to Beta, we may infer that Beta is a better parent.
